Taste-Safe Sensory Bins for Toddlers

$3.00

Nine taste-safe sensory bins for one- and two-year-olds, built to be grabbed, smooshed, poured and, yes, tasted.

What’s inside

  • 11 pages: a cover, a grown-up guide on setup, mess control and keeping play safe, and 9 recipe cards
  • Recipes: Rainbow Cooked Pasta, Warm Oatmeal Mud, Jiggly Jell-O Dig, Yogurt Finger Paint, Fluffy Mashed-Potato Snow, Whipped Cream Clouds, Cut-Up Scoop & Pour, Frozen Fruit Rescue and Banana Mud Mash
  • Each card lists what you need, how to make it, the skills hiding in the bin and ways to stretch the play

Skills it builds

  • Tactile exploration and sensory tolerance
  • Grasp, scooping and pouring
  • Early language (narrating “cold!”, “pour, pour, pour!”)
  • Independent play, two unbothered minutes at a time

How to use

Lay a towel under a shallow bin or highchair tray, strip down to a diaper or an old shirt and keep the bin small. Stay within arm’s reach the whole time and use soft, large, gummable pieces only; taste-safe is not the same as choke-safe. Narrate what you see, add a cup or a favorite animal to keep it fresh, and end while it is still fun. Best for about 12–24 months, always with a grown-up close. Prep time: 5 minutes per bin.

You’ll need

Soft food-safe ingredients you already have (pasta, oats, gelatin, yogurt, potatoes, fruit), a shallow bin or tray, a towel and wipes.
