Prewriting Strokes Developmental Ladder

$3.00

Climb the prewriting ladder one stroke at a time, in the order little hands actually learn them.

What’s inside

  • 16 pages: how-to page, 7 steps (each with a trace page and an “on my own” page) and a ladder progress tracker
  • The seven building-block strokes: lines down, lines across, circles, crosses, slants, squares and X
  • A row of five on every “on my own” page: trace, trace, dot-to-dot, almost, my turn
  • A practice space on each page for free drawing
  • An age guide for each step, from about 2 to 5+ years

Skills it builds

  • Prewriting strokes
  • Pencil control
  • Eye-hand coordination

How to use

Start at Step 1 and climb in order, a step or two per session. Laminate the pages and use a dry-erase marker, or tape a page to the wall for whole-arm practice first. Color a circle on the tracker at each new step. Prep time: 3 minutes.

You’ll need

Crayons, a pencil or dry-erase markers. Laminator or sheet protectors optional.
