Number Sensory Bin

$3.50

Hide the numbers in a sensory bin, then let little hands dig them out and match each one to a board. Fine-motor digging and number recognition in one playful activity.

What’s inside

  • 6 pages: a how-to page, a tips-and-ideas page, three number-match boards and a page of number squares to cut apart
  • Three boards for three levels: numbers in order (easiest), a mixed-up grid and scattered numbers (a challenge)
  • Number squares for 0 to 9 to hide in your bin
  • Bin filler ideas: rice, dried beans, dry pasta, sand, kinetic sand, water beads, pom-poms or shredded paper

Skills it builds

  • Fine-motor digging and hand strength
  • Pincer grasp
  • Number recognition 0–9
  • Counting and ordering

How to use

Print and laminate every page, or slide them into sheet protectors so they wipe clean. Cut out the squares on the last page and hide them in your bin. Dig out a number, find its match on a board page and cross it off with a dry-erase marker. Wipe clean and play again. Make it easier with the in-order board, or harder with the scattered board and a sand timer. Dig with tongs or tweezers for more fine-motor work. Prep time: 10 minutes.

You’ll need

A sensory bin with filler (rice, dried beans or sand), scissors and a dry-erase marker. A laminator or sheet protectors are optional.
