Feelings Dough Mats: I Feel

$4.00

Roll, pinch and press playdough onto a blank face to show a feeling, then name it and talk about what helps: feelings practice with fine motor built in.

What’s inside

  • A how-to page for grown-ups with a list of feelings to explore (happy, sad, mad, scared, excited, silly, worried, calm and more)
  • 16 mats, each with a different child’s blank face to build on, an “I feel” line to write on, a box to brainstorm why, and a box for strategies to feel calm again
  • A Therapist tip on how pinching and rolling build hand strength

Skills it builds

  • Emotional vocabulary
  • Self-regulation
  • Hand strength
  • Early writing

How to use

Print and laminate each mat or pop it in a dry-erase sleeve. Pick a feeling and build it on the face with dough or a marker. Write the feeling on the line, brainstorm what causes it, then talk about what helps your body feel calm again. Prep time: 5 minutes.

You’ll need

Playdough or a dry-erase marker, and a laminator or sheet protectors.

From a pediatric OT

Made by Ms. Aviv, a licensed pediatric occupational therapist, and used with real kids before it reaches you. Print-ready PDF on US Letter (prints on A4 with “fit to page”).
