Calm-Down Corner Kit

$4.00

Everything for a calm-down corner: a visual calm-down plan, a rainbow breathing card and 54 affirmation cards.

What’s inside

  • 3 PDFs in one download (11 pages in all)
  • My Calm-Down Plan: six picture choices for a big feeling (take 5 deep breaths, count slowly to ten, move my body, get a drink of water, ask for a hug or help, find a cozy quiet spot) with an OT tip
  • Rainbow Breathing: trace each arc with a finger, breathe in going up and out coming down
  • Affirmation Cards (9 pages, 6 cards a page): “I can handle big feelings”, “I can ask for help”, “Every feeling will pass” and more

Skills it builds

  • Self-regulation and calm-down strategies
  • Slow breathing and body awareness
  • Positive self-talk
  • Asking for help

How to use

Let your child pick 2–3 favorite calm-down choices and circle them, then practice them when everyone is calm so they are ready for big feelings. Post the plan and the rainbow at child height in a quiet spot. Cut the affirmation cards apart, keep them in a jar or on a ring and read one together each morning or after a hard moment. Laminate for everyday use. Prep time: 5 minutes.

You’ll need

Scissors. A laminator, a jar or a binder ring are optional.

From a pediatric OT

Made by Ms. Aviv, a licensed pediatric occupational therapist, and used with real kids before it reaches you. Print-ready PDF on US Letter (prints on A4 with “fit to page”).
