Apple Tree Sensory Bin

$4.50

One apple bin, lots of ways to learn: bury the apple cards, dig them out, then cross off, match, sort and count.

What’s inside

  • 16 pages: a cover, a how-to page for grown-ups and 14 boards and card pages
  • Cross-Off Trees: uppercase A–Z, lowercase a–z and numbers 1–20 (find it in the bin, cross it off with a dry-erase marker)
  • Build Your Name: line up apple letters to spell a name
  • Beginning Sounds: match an apple letter to the picture it starts
  • Apple Reversals: sort the tricky b, d, p and q apples into baskets
  • Color Sort & Patterns: sort red, green and yellow apples and finish the pattern
  • Counting: “My Tree Has __ Apples” and Write & Count 1–10
  • Cut-out cards: apple letters (A–Z and a–z), number apples 1–20 and reversal apples

Skills it builds

  • Hand strength and pincer grasp (digging, pinching, scooping)
  • Letter and number recognition
  • Beginning sounds and b/d/p/q reversals
  • Sorting, patterns and counting 1–20

How to use

Print, laminate and cut out the cards. Fill a bin with dried corn, red beans or shredded paper and bury the cards for one activity at a time, so the bin has a clear job. Your child digs out an apple, then crosses it off, matches it, sorts it or counts it. Best for ages 4–7. OT tip: for b and d, make a “bed” with two fists, thumbs up: the left hand is b, the right is d. Prep time: 10 minutes once, then reuse all season.

You’ll need

A shallow bin or tray, a filler (dried beans, rice, oats, corn or shredded paper), and tongs or a scoop. A laminator or sheet protectors keep the boards wipe-clean. Red, green and yellow pom-poms and a dry-erase marker are optional.
